Divorce. It can feel like a bereavement, a betrayal and a bitter experience. As someone who has worked with those going through divorce for over twenty years, I’ve experienced those emotions first hand – and many more. This is perfectly natural, and not something to run away from.
By going over your own feelings associated with divorce, we can learn to adapt, heal and become stronger from this naturally upsetting experience. With no pressure to fix a relationship, we can instead go over sentiments anchored to the relationship: anger, resentment, hopelessness, and more. It is your opportunity to move from blame and acrimony to honesty and openness.
If you have children with your partner, it is important to be able to maintain a solid parenting relationship. As a therapist, I have helped divorcing couples maintain a healthy environment in which to raise children. If infidelity was the cause of your divorce, I can help you move on and learn to trust again.
The end of your relationship is an opportunity for a new beginning. Therapy can give you the motivation you require to move on, adopt a positive mindset and welcome a new chapter in life.
